I have seen and heard to many people answer questions with "well I am a christian." Also I look at peoples profile on yahoo or myspace and i find things like "I a happily married christian with 3 kids" or one of the most memerable myspace's about me, "first thing you need to know about me is that I am completly in love with Jesus". I am seriouly like WTF, I never hear people say things like I am a satanist with 3 kinds, or happily married buddist.

It's the sin of pride. The pride of belonging to a group of like minded people gives them a false sense of comfort and strength. It's a normal human attribute. I comes from the fact that we are pack animals and seek out groups to be a part of for our sense of security.

Jesus says that if we deny him, he will not know us when we reach our judgement day.
Also, being a Christian is what defines us. We understand that this life is only temporary and that being a Christian is going to be what saves us in the next. We are grateful to Jesus, grateful to God for saving us.

According to Jesus, people are to know we are Christians by our LOVE, not by announcing to the world, "I AM A CHRISTIAN!".
I can tell you I am anything I want to be, but that doesn't necessarily make it so.

It sure beats always complaining and criticizing everyone who else who isn't like you.

i've seen those who call themselves christian but not follow the rules and laws set down by the Bible. It is easier to say you are christian than to show that you are. I am christian but I try my best not to bring that up into conversations because it should have no determining factor in what I say but instead only how i say it. I have found that those that flaunt their religion are not confident in their beliefs nor in their own values. If it offends you, well, sorry to say that some people are not aware that their values and beliefs don't apply to everyone. I don't push my beliefs on others but do make a suggestion when specific moments arise (turmoil, deaths, births, etc) If for whatever reason I see the person I say this too seems disturbed or bothered, I don't mention it again. Unfortunately, not everyone understands. I will ask this though, please don't judge us all by the actions of a few. It was an interesting question to answer.

Because it is a complete way of life and not just a club membership. Some are very proud just like they are about being a mom or a firefighter or a student. Everyone expresses theme selves differently including their religion, why does this in particular bother you?

if they say: "..well i am a Christisn.." it simply justifies whatever answer they are about to give you; meaning, they are about to answer you based on their beliefs.
posting "happily married Christian.." might only mean that they are shooing away ppl who are in the net looking for net relationships because they are already married. by saying that they are Christians witness to their being happy as Christians AND their non-interest in net relationships with ppl from other religion. it DOESNT mean that they shun friendship from non-Christians, either--
all these are MERE expressions. they shouldnt bother YOU. *smiles*

if i met you on the street, i wouldn't shake your hand and say, "hi, i'm a Christian." if we talked for awhile, it may come up in converstation. if we became aquainted and i never said so, i would hope that you would see Christ in my actions.
i am a Christian. i say so because it says a lot about who i am and who i serve. secondly, everytime i write it or say it, i am reminded that my life is not just about me (i am a human with faults, so i need daily reinforcement).

Well, if religion, morals, or belief systems are an important part of a discussion, if they're really a big part of a person's input or answer or whatever, then it makes sense that a person might preface his thoughts with where he's coming from.
However, for the most part, Mama taught me that if you have to tell people you're a Christian, it's because they'd never know it by your actions.
