Do you think religion should have a double standard?

Did you know a christian woman cannot be over a christian man? (At least in the Church of Christ) Meaning that a woman cannot preach (along with several other things).

Now.

I know, That the Bible (and God) says this. So it's supposed to make it right.

But if there were say, A school... Who wouldn't hire a female teacher, Even if she had the knowledge, Even if she were fine with kids; For the sole fact that the head of the board didn't want to hire her BECAUSE she is woman.

Would you, In your heart, Believe that to be right? Without religion. The same thing under a different circumstance.

How sad that women are still needing to fight against the misogny of the church. "The bible says so" just doesn't cut it any more, folks. I think if a woman's church does not allow her to speak and teach and preach to adults, she needs to FIND A NEW CHURCH. How can people take seriously a god who despises over half the population??

Do you think religion should have a double standard?

to some degree you are correct - i think some denominations take things to the extreme. I'm Catholic so we understand the role of women and while they are not priests..... some hold an even higher regard within the parish communities. heck, even the pope will often have a female (usually a nun from St Bridget's) who's advice he listens too or talks with....

Do you think religion should have a double standard?

Absolutely religion has double standards. They carefully eliminated all the books that said that men and women were equal. You need to realize also that many of the group that met to decide on the books of the bible hated women. Of course, they thought incest was pretty damn good. That's why it is rewarded in the bible.

That issue is determined by the denomination you belong to...not the bible. Give me any scripture that people use to show that and I will show you a misinterpretation of it.

In time equal rights must be the standard on earth, for that is the truth.

Do you think religion should have a double standard?

I wouldn't believe that to be right at all. That's like not hiring someone because they're Christian(or anything else, for that matter).

To me, religion has double standards because it was created by people(a long time ago, but still created by the hand of man, rather than the hand of an actual deity of any sort), and naturally, people are fallible, unlike God(or any other religious figure), so we're flawed and thusly, our creations are flawed, including religion.

So of course, religion'll have double standards like this, particularly after history has proven that, unlike ancient times, it's not right to discriminate against a woman, no more than it's right to own slaves(which is also in the Bible, btw).

Yes God is always right! His ways are not your ways.

God bless
